Golf Ruins Boredom

So you decided to just sit around for another year and watch the television for that ever expectant something. What ever it is that we are actually watching for is a surprise to me every time I think about it.

Not only does T/V steal precious time from us but eating, drinking and nearly everything else does as well. Now every golfer knows these things are not needed. Because there is GOLF!

An invention by the most intelligent of men of our past that not only fulfills all of our needs but also helps us enjoy television when and if we ever get to see it again because they show golfing on it as well.

Who would possibly think that walking around seemingly aimlessly looking for a little white dimpled ball somewhere in that sand , mud, grass or forest is remotely more enjoyable than being bored. Well it just is.

Take my word for it because the only option to that would be to go to your local public golf course with a friend or two or even your partner and play a round yourself. We know that will never happen as long as there is digital information flying through the air to give you something to watch on your precious box. Or will it? Go make me wrong.

Practice Chipping When It's Raining

By Jamie Faidley

You can not always head outdoors to work on your game. The weather doesn't often cooperate for perfect golfing conditions. Occasionally it is the rain other times it's just too cold. If you live in a chillier climate you might go several weeks without having the ability to make a run out to a golf course. What do you do to keep your short game intact? You practice chipping inside of course. There are a few things that you are going to want if you are going to practice inside.

Room

The first is plenty of space. You need at least 10 feet of open area. The ceilings don't need to be that high since you will not be taking the club back very far.

Mat

The second thing you must have is a mat to chip off. You don't want to wear down your carpet so buy a mat that has extremely short fiber so it simulates the closely mown grass found on the fringe.

Balls

I wouldn't counsel chipping with real balls as you might put a hole in the house. Instead opt for softer practice balls or wiffle balls that you can find at just about any golf shop.

Target

You're going to need something to aim at. You obviously aren't going to need to put a hole in your floor so if you want to simulate a cup then use a red solo cup or any other plastic cup. This implies that the target will be 2 inches off the ground, but use your imagination because at least it's the perfect size.

What I like to use as a target is some kind of paper or tissue. Then, rather than trying to get the ball to stop rolling on the target, I try to land the ball on the target. This helps me take my practice out to the course. The greens you play on are not going to be similar to your carpet when it comes to roll, but the distance your swing causes the ball to travel in the air will not be different.
